Kindle Fire HD vs. iPad: Apple besting Amazon in holiday tablet sales - Examiner.com

on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, the Amazon
tablet made up just 2.4 percent of the overall tablet sales during
Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Apple’s iPad bested its numbers, making
up more than 88% of tablet sales, with the Barnes & Noble Nook
grabbing 3.1% of sales.

In a bold move on Cyber Monday, Amazon unleashed a Kindle Fire deal,
reducing the price of the original tablet down to just $129. The deal
made the tablet $30 less than its regular price of $159. One day after
that sale had ended, Amazon released a press release touting positive
sales of their Kindles, with Kindle VP Dave Limp saying:

_”Kindle e-readers and Kindle Fires have held the top 4 spots on the
Amazon worldwide best sellers list since launch, and that was before
the busiest shopping weekend of the year.”_

As of this report, Kindles continue to dominate the electronics best
sellers list at Amazon, holding most of the top spots. The devices
range in prices with items like the Kindle Paperwhite at $119, and the
higher-end 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD tablet with 4G LTE connectivity
selling for over $500. Amazon has not reported any official figures on
how many of their devices have been sold yet either, but it seems
possible they are increasing the numbers as the holiday season
continues. Suggested by the author:
